SODUS — A large tree fell onto power lines and blocked North Centenary Road at Route 104 late Tuesday night, prompting a response from Sodus Fire Rescue.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 11:09 p.m. after reports of a downed tree with electrical wires involved.
First responders found the tree had fallen onto service lines and was completely blocking the roadway.
Sodus Fire Rescue shut down the road and waited for Rochester Gas & Electric crews to arrive and safely remove the tree from the power lines.
Once utility workers addressed the electrical hazard, firefighters cleared the tree debris from the roadway.
The incident required four units from Sodus Fire Rescue, including vehicles 19-1, 19-3, 19-4 and Rescue 1.
Emergency crews completed the operation and returned to service at 1:03 a.m. Wednesday.
