CAMILLUS — A 37-year-old man was arrested after police recovered three unregistered “ghost guns” and numerous firearm parts following an anonymous tip, authorities said Tuesday.
The Camillus Police Department received information through their Tip411 system from a community member reporting that the suspect might be in possession of illegal firearms.
Detectives immediately launched an investigation after receiving the tip, which led to the arrest and seizure of the weapons.
“Ghost guns” are firearms without serial numbers, making them difficult to trace when used in crimes.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident, according to police officials.
Authorities emphasized that the case involved illegal possession of dangerous and unregistered weapons, not lawful firearm ownership.
The police department credited community vigilance for the successful operation, reinforcing their “If you see something, say something” campaign.
The suspect’s identity and specific charges have not yet been released as the investigation continues.
