LYONS — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred early Tuesday morning in the town of Ontario.
Deputies responded to a residence on Brookway Crescent around 1:52 a.m. after receiving a report of a male who had been shot.
Upon arrival, authorities found James Sharpstene, 61, deceased from a gunshot wound to the torso.
A female was located at the residence and was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.
No charges have been filed as of Tuesday, and the investigation into the homicide continues.
Detectives believe this is an isolated incident and have stated there is no threat to the community.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police and the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office.
