MONTVILLE — A 28-year-old Montville man turned himself in to police Monday on charges related to a February hit-and-run crash that caused life-threatening injuries to another driver.

Lyiam Mathis surrendered to the Montville Police Department at 9 a.m. on May 5 on the strength of an arrest warrant, according to police.

The warrant stemmed from an investigation into a serious injury collision that occurred on February 20 on Route 32 near Crow Hill in the Uncasville section of Montville.

Police said Mathis struck another vehicle, initiating a three-car collision in which one driver sustained serious life-threatening injuries.

Mathis fled the scene after the crash, according to authorities.

He faces multiple charges including first-degree assault with extreme indifference to life, first-degree reckless endangerment, evading responsibility with serious physical injury, reckless driving and unsafe passing.

Mathis was held on a $150,000 bond and was presented for arraignment the same day at GA-21 Norwich Superior Court.
