Bath man charged with robbery, assault after woman heard screaming

BATH — Deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 30-year-old Bath man on multiple charges after responding to reports of a woman screaming for help in the Town of Bath.

Andrew M. Machuga of State Route 415 was arrested April 29 following the incident where he allegedly repeatedly struck and choked a person before forcibly stealing their property.

Machuga was charged with robbery in the second degree, a class C felony, assault in the third degree and criminal obstruction of breathing.

The victim was treated by EMS at the scene and released.

Machuga was arraigned in the Centralized Arraignment Court and held on the felony offenses.
