Police seize weapons in Chester after social media threats

CHESTER — Police officers from the Town of Chester Police Department, assisted by the Tactical Response Unit, executed a search warrant at 234 Heritage Lane at 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

The warrant was obtained during an investigation into threatening social media posts that included images of a firearm.

A 23-year-old Chester man was charged with three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, felonies, and three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree, misdemeanors.

The suspect was arraigned in the City of Middletown court and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 secured bond.

Three handguns and several large capacity magazines were recovered from the residence.

The joint Tactical Response Unit that assisted in the operation includes members from police departments of the Towns of Chester, Warwick and Woodbury and the Villages of Goshen, Greenwood Lake, Harriman and Monroe.
