TRUMBULL — A Norwalk man has been charged with murder following a domestic-related assault that resulted in the death of a Trumbull woman.

Ylli Shtopaku, 45, was apprehended Monday by Trumbull Police at the Ten-Trumbull apartment complex where the attack occurred.

Investigators believe the victim was specifically targeted as she returned to her residence.

Police said Shtopaku remained at the scene and was immediately taken into custody by responding officers.

Authorities determined that the suspect and victim were previously relatives but were no longer related due to a divorce in the family.

Shtopaku, a resident of South Street in Norwalk, was initially identified as a Monroe resident, but police confirmed that was a former address.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident and ask anyone with information to contact the Trumbull Police at (203) 261-3665.
