TRUMBULL — A Monroe man was apprehended by Trumbull Police Monday and charged in connection with a domestic-related assault at the Ten-Trumbull Apartment Complex on Oakview Drive.

Ylli Shtopaku, 45, of Richard Drive in Monroe, was taken into custody at the scene by responding officers.

Police responded to the apartment complex at 101 Oakview Drive after receiving multiple 911 calls from residents reporting a man attacking a woman outside the main office building near the entrance.

Officers located a seriously injured woman and the suspect, who remained at the scene nearby.

The preliminary investigation indicated that Shtopaku had confronted several women he knew outside the main entrance.

After a brief argument, Shtopaku allegedly retrieved a bat from his vehicle and chased the women, striking one who fell to the ground.

Trumbull EMS transported several victims to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center for various injuries.

Police initially responded to the scene around 4 p.m., noting that the responsible person was immediately taken into custody.

Authorities confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public.

As of 7:30 p.m., police were still gathering additional information to determine charges.

Officials stated that additional information will be released at a later time.
