WALTON — A Walton resident was arrested on April 9 following a domestic incident that occurred in early March, according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Craig S. DuMond said deputies responded to a domestic dispute on March 5 in Walton.
Deputies were advised that 43-year-old Matthew Barnes had been involved in a physical domestic dispute in the presence of several children and left the scene before law enforcement arrived.
After an investigation, deputies requested an arrest warrant for Barnes from the Walton Town Court.
The warrant, issued March 17, included one count of assault in the third degree, five counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of obstruction of breathing, all class A misdemeanors.
Deputies arrested Barnes on April 9 on the outstanding warrant.
Barnes was arraigned and released on his own recognizance in accordance with state bail reform laws.
He is scheduled to return to Walton Town Court to answer the charges.
