WATERVILLE — A Waterville man was arrested for violating a stay away order of protection following a welfare check complaint, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Robert Maciol reported that on April 4 at around 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to an address on Stafford Ave in the Village of Waterville after receiving a report of a male acting erratically.
Investigation determined that Gregory Getman, 44, of Waterville, had engaged in communication with a protected party, violating an order of protection.
Getman was located at his residence but refused to come outside.
Crisis negotiators attempted to speak with Getman while deputies applied for an arrest warrant.
After the warrant was signed, Getman surrendered without further incident.
Getman was charged with one count of Criminal Contempt 2nd (Class A Misdemeanor).
He was transported to the Law Enforcement Building for processing and is scheduled to be arraigned later today.
