MALDEN — The Malden Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit seized an illegally possessed rifle, stolen property and various illegal drugs following an investigation into motorized scooter thefts, officials said Tuesday.

Detective David Yung led the investigation into several scooter thefts that occurred over a two-week period.

The investigation culminated in the execution of a search warrant at a Malden residence, where officers discovered what is believed to be cocaine, heroin and crystal methamphetamine.

The department’s Special Operations Unit assisted with the search warrant operation.

Police said criminal charges are forthcoming against a suspect whose identity is being withheld due to their age.
