WEST SENECA — Police in West Seneca responded to a variety of incidents over a weeklong period, with arrests made and investigations ongoing in several cases, according to the latest blotter report.
On Sunday, a 42-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.
Officers reported stopping the man’s vehicle mid-morning after he ran a stop sign and failed to signal.
Despite testing negative for alcohol, he failed sobriety tests and was charged with DWAI by drugs.
In another incident Sunday, police investigated two related accidents after a woman reported her vehicle had been struck while parked on Clinton St.
The driver, a 35-year-old Buffalo man, later admitted his involvement in the hit-and-run.
Monday saw a report of a stolen purse, though the purse was later found at the hospital where the victim had been treated.
Additionally, harassment charges are pending against a 39-year-old Cheektowaga man accused of bombarding his former employer with messages and visiting his home uninvited.
On Tuesday, police were called to Birchwood Square where two men were found in a physical altercation.
Both men sustained injuries, and authorities are investigating to determine the aggressor.
Wednesday involved a house fire on Stephenson St., which was deemed accidental by investigators after a small propane heater reportedly ignited aerosols during renovations.
Local firefighters responded quickly, and no injuries were reported.
Thursday’s incidents included a hit-and-run on Seneca St. where the offender fled the scene after stopping briefly at a nearby fast-food outlet.
A person’s vehicle was also stolen from their driveway, later found in Cheektowaga; the case remains under investigation with no suspects identified.
On Friday, a 50-year-old man is facing theft charges after allegedly skipping out on a cab fare while leaving his empty wallet as collateral.
In another case, a threat reported at Planet Fitness led to a gym member’s membership being terminated after a political discussion escalated.
Saturday included the arrest of an 18-year-old man found intoxicated after crashing into a snowbank on Seneca St.
Police also responded to a vandalized home on Greenspring Ct., where the investigation is ongoing after extensive damage was reported inside the new-build dwelling.
