COXSACKIE — At approximately 2:54 p.m. on March 3, troopers from State Police Coxsackie observed a 2018 Kia violating New York State Vehicle and Traffic Laws near Exit 21 on the New York State Thruway interchange.
Upon attempting a traffic stop, the vehicle fled, exiting the Stewarts parking lot onto Route 23B in Leeds, heading toward Jefferson Heights.
A pursuit ensued, lasting several miles, with the driver engaging in evasive maneuvers.
The chase concluded in the Village of Catskill, where the driver parked and fled on foot.
Officers apprehended the driver without further incident after a brief foot pursuit.
The driver, identified as Michael R. Dauphin, 31, of Elka Park, NY, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses including reckless driving and unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
Dauphin faces additional charges of reckless endangerment and possession of a controlled substance, among other violations.
He was released on an appearance ticket and is set to appear in the Town of Catskill Court on March 20.
The passenger, identified as Sara Leppig, 41, of East Durham, NY, was also arrested.
Leppig was charged with multiple drug-related offenses.
She was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court on March 27.
