Fonda police arrest Johnstown man on child exploitation charges

FONDA — On Feb. 28, State Police in Fonda, with assistance from the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, arrested Andrew J. Brown, 37, of Johnstown, on charges related to child exploitation.

Brown faces charges of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “D” felony, and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony.

Authorities accuse Brown of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation.

His arrest followed an investigation and the execution of a search warrant at his Johnstown home on Feb. 28.

The investigation was initiated after a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Following his arrest, Brown was taken to the State Police barracks in Fonda, where he was processed.

He was arraigned at the Johnstown City Court and subsequently remanded to the Fulton County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash, a $15,000 bond, or a $30,000 partially secured bond.
