ONONDAGA — A teenage driver was arrested following a shooting incident in the Town of Onondaga on Feb. 28 at approximately 6:41 p.m.

New York State Police LaFayette responded to reports of a shooting involving a 17-year-old male, who was driving a Subaru Crosstrek accompanied by his girlfriend.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford Fusion carrying three passengers encountered the Subaru on Roswell Ave.

The driver of the Ford recognized the Subaru’s occupants due to prior disputes and was reportedly honked at while stopped at the intersection of West Roswell Ave and Midland Ave.

After dropping off a backseat passenger, the Ford Fusion continued down Orchard Ave, where its occupants saw the Subaru backed into a driveway.

As the Fusion passed by, the suspect exited the Crosstrek, prompting the driver to slow down and roll down their window.

The suspect then pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired a single shot into the front passenger-side door.

The victims fled the scene while the suspect briefly pursued them before breaking off on Kennedy Road.

They immediately drove to SP LaFayette to report the incident.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The 17-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with Reckless Endangerment in the first degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Criminal Possession of a Firearm in the second degree.

He was arraigned by on-call CAP Court Judge Schiano and was remanded to Hillbrook Juvenile Detention Center on $100,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
