COVENTRY — At approximately 1:38 p.m. on Feb. 22, the Vermont State Police responded to a residence on Nadeau Park Road in Coventry for a report of a possible assault.
Upon arrival, troopers identified Jacob Roy, 29, of Coventry as a person of interest.
Roy fled the scene in a car, striking a state police cruiser and causing minor damage.
A sweep of the residence found no other individuals present.
Troopers later met with and spoke to the complainant.
An investigation determined Roy had caused injury to a household member and had a prior domestic assault conviction from 2018.
Authorities learned the alleged assault took place on various roads in both Brownington and Barton.
The investigation also found Roy had been driving well above the speed limit, placing the vehicle’s occupants in further fear.
Roy was later found hiding inside a residence in Newport by officers from the Newport Police Department.
He was taken into custody without further incident.
He was transported to the Derby Barracks for processing before being lodged at Northern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.
