ORLEANS — On Feb. 11 at 1:40 a.m., the Vermont State Police received a report of a vehicle off the roadway on Vermont Route 58 near Country Club Lane.
Investigation revealed that Benjamin Stemarie, 34, of Newport Center, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, crossing the center line and leaving the roadway.
While speaking with Stemarie, indicators of impairment were detected.
He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Stemarie was driving a 2015 GMC Sierra, which sustained minor damage in the incident.
He was not injured.
Stemarie was placed under arrest and transported to the Derby State Police Barracks for processing.
He was later released on a citation for DUI #2 and refusal.
