BOSTON — Boston police arrested six suspects Thursday night following the execution of search warrants as part of an ongoing human trafficking investigation in the Mattapan neighborhood.

At about 9 p.m. on Feb. 6, members of the Human Trafficking Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, District B-3 officers, Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Unit, and the FBI Child Exploitation & Human Trafficking Task Force conducted the operation at 884 Cummins Highway.

During a protective sweep of the apartment, officers noticed an open window that appeared to have been used by someone to jump out.

A search of the exterior led to the discovery of a loaded Taurus G2C firearm with one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine under the window, along with a blood stain in the snow.

Officers stopped a vehicle fleeing the area and arrested the driver, Jamell Spurill, 42, of Boston, for operating without a license.

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

The passenger, who had injuries consistent with jumping out of the window, was arrested on two active warrants and additional charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device, as well as defacement of a firearm serial number and being an armed career criminal.

He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before booking.

Back at the apartment, officers recovered seventeen plastic bags of crack cocaine and arrested four more suspects: a 15-year-old juvenile male charged with unlawful possession of ammunition, Betzabeliz Rivera, 31, Amaury Guzman, 32, and Charles Griffin, 29, all of Mattapan, each with active warrants.

They are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
