ST. ALBANS — Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man suspected of making fraudulent tool purchases at two local hardware stores earlier this month.

On Feb. 6, the St. Albans Police Department received a report of a fraudulent purchase at Sticks and Stuff, where a white male, described as being 25-30 years of age, charged tools to a business account without authorization.

A similar incident occurred on Feb. 3 at Ace Hardware, also in St. Albans, involving a male with the same description.

In that instance, the suspect again charged tools to an account he was not authorized to use.

Both cases are currently under investigation by the St. Albans Police Department, which has released images of the suspect and is seeking assistance from the public to identify him.

In light of these incidents, the St. Albans Police are also reminding local businesses to diligently verify the identification of individuals attempting to use charge accounts to prevent fraudulent activities.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is encouraged to contact the St. Albans Police Department.
