IRASBURG — The Orleans County Natural Resources Conservation District will host two community meetings February 10 to gather input on federal funding priorities for local conservation efforts.
The free sessions at Irasburg Town Hall will include presentations on water quality, forestry and farming in Orleans County. The first meeting runs 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by an evening session from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Both include meals and childcare.
The meetings aim to develop a Conservation Action Plan to guide Natural Resources Conservation Service funding in Orleans County through a process unique to Vermont.
Agricultural producers, forest landowners, loggers and conservation-minded residents are encouraged to attend. Door prizes featuring Orleans County farm products will be awarded.
Vermont is leading the nation in this unique process, which allows communities to direct how Federal resources are allocated on the ground and what concerns those resources should address.
