TROY — A Newport Center woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident late Saturday night.
Vermont State Police reported that they responded to a single-vehicle crash at 10:53 p.m. on VT RT 100 near Loop Road.
The vehicle, a 2019 Subaru Impreza, was found abandoned with front-end damage after striking a highway sign and ending up in a snow-filled ditch.
The driver, Rachael Goulet, 29, was located shortly afterward at a residence on Buzzell Road in Newport Center.
Officers observed signs of significant impairment, and following an investigation, Goulet was taken into custody.
After being processed at the Derby Barracks, Goulet was released with a citation to appear in the Criminal Division of the Vermont Superior Court in Newport on Feb. 18 at 8:30 a.m.
There were no reported injuries from the crash.
