SHELTON — Police arrested a Bridgeport man in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation following a surveillance operation in the Howe Avenue area.
Dionte Thompson, 31, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree larceny of a motor vehicle, police said.
It was his second such offense, according to authorities.
The arrest on Jan. 23 came after Shelton police detectives, working with the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force Southwest Office, conducted surveillance in response to a recent increase in vehicle thefts.
Investigators spotted a stolen vehicle parked in the area and gathered evidence linking it to Thompson, police said.
Authorities said Thompson is also a suspect in several other crimes.
Thompson was held on $50,000 bond, which he was unable to post.
He appeared in Derby Superior Court on Jan. 24.
The Shelton Police Department said it continues to work with state, federal and local law enforcement agencies to prevent and combat crime in the community.
