READING — A New Hampshire man was arrested on multiple charges, including operating under the influence of drugs, after a traffic stop in Reading late Monday night.
Daniel Devlin, 41, of Hudson, N.H., was taken into custody following a series of events that began around 10:15 p.m. when Reading police officers observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road at 757 Main St. The vehicle, driven by Devlin, proceeded to drive erratically prompting officers to conduct a traffic stop.
During the interaction with Devlin, officers noted his pinpoint pupils and erratic movements as he reached for an object and into the back of the vehicle multiple times.
After being asked to exit the vehicle, Devlin appeared to struggle with his balance.
Field sobriety tests led police to conclude he was operating under the influence.
A search of Devlin’s vehicle unearthed a brown powdery residue and a capped needle containing a brown-like liquid, both suspected to be heroin, as well as an 8 mg film of Suboxone.
Devlin now faces charges including operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, marked lanes violation, and possession of Class E and Class A substances.
He was arraigned in Woburn District Court on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
