Barton man arrested for abuse order violation, cocaine possession

BARTON — A 47-year-old Barton resident was taken into custody early Wednesday morning on multiple charges, including violation of an abuse prevention order and possession of cocaine.

Morgan Barber was arrested after Vermont State Police responded to a report at 2:30 a.m. that Barber had breached a final abuse prevention order.

During the arrest, troopers discovered cocaine on Barber’s person.

According to the authorities, Barber also attempted to destroy evidence while in the presence of law enforcement.

He was processed at the Vermont State Police Derby Barracks and subsequently lodged at the Northern State Correctional Facility.

The Vermont State Police have not released any information regarding the victim, adhering to policies protecting the identities of victims of sexual assault or domestic violence.
