St. Johnsbury man arrested for road rage incidents on I-91

ST. JOHNSBURY — A St. Johnsbury man was arrested Monday evening after allegedly engaging in aggressive driving and impeding traffic twice along Interstate 91, according to Vermont State Police.

Authorities said Stephen MacNevins, 44, was taken into custody after he reportedly followed a vehicle aggressively and then blocked it on the I-91 South exit 20 on-ramp around 5:49 p.m. Troopers responded to a 911 call about the incident and conducted an investigation on-site.

While police were investigating, MacNevins left the scene and proceeded to block traffic again on the I-91 South exit 18 off-ramp in Barnet.

Troopers apprehended MacNevins at the second location.

MacNevins faces charges of impeding public officers, negligent operation, and two counts of disorderly conduct.

After being processed at the St. Johnsbury State Police barracks, he was released with a citation to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Feb. 24.

The Vermont State Police did not disclose the name of the victim, following policies for incidents involving sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking.

Further details about the road rage episodes were not immediately available.
