NORTHFIELD — A Northfield man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and negligent operation of a motor vehicle after police say he crashed his car into a Central Street residence on Jan. 18.
Yasser Antonio Hernandez Perez, 33, of Northfield, was found slumped over the wheel of his idling car by a local resident who grew concerned and alerted authorities around 8:12 a.m., according to the Northfield Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene on South Street, where they found the doors of the vehicle locked and Perez non-responsive.
After attempts to awaken him, Perez semi-consciously accelerated his vehicle into a nearby residence.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Northfield Ambulance Service, Northfield Fire Department, North Main Service, and Vermont State Police, including Trooper Flores, arrived swiftly to assist.
Perez was taken into custody following the investigation and is scheduled to appear in Washington Superior Court – Criminal Division on Feb. 6 at 8:30 a.m.
