VERNON — Police officers and a K9 unit intercepted a significant quantity of narcotics during a traffic stop on Valley View Lane on Dec. 26, the Vernon Police Department reported.
Responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle, officers and K9 Franco, a trained narcotics detection dog, arrived on the scene.
Upon conducting a narcotics sniff, Franco alerted officers to the presence of drugs within the vehicle.
The subsequent search yielded approximately 190 wax folds of fentanyl, 25 grams of crack cocaine, 6 grams of cocaine, an undisclosed number of MDMA pills, and various drug paraphernalia.
Authorities charged the male occupant with multiple drug-related offenses as well as interfering and resisting officers.
The female occupant faced several drug-related charges.
Both individuals were detained on $100,000 surety bonds.
The Vernon Police Department commended the effective work of K9 Franco and the officers involved in the operation.
