BRISTOL — Police officers from the Bristol Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to reports of suspicious activity on East Main Street on Dec. 8, leading to the arrest of two Massachusetts men found with burglary tools near a local car dealership.
Nelshon Pires and Andy Semedo, both from Brockton, were identified by police following a description of the individuals involved.
The pair were apprehended near Blasius of Bristol, a car dealership that, along with others in the area, has experienced thefts of high-priced vehicles in recent years.
These crimes often involve the simultaneous theft of multiple vehicles.
Upon their arrest, Pires and Semedo were discovered to be in possession of devices capable of unlocking vehicles and technology enabling them to operate cars without original keys.
The men were charged with possession of burglary tools and released on bond, with a court appearance scheduled in New Britain on Dec. 23.
Further collaboration with Massachusetts law enforcement led to the execution of multiple search warrants on Dec. 11 and Dec. 12.
Pires and Semedo were arrested again, and additional evidence was found that may connect Pires to the previous incidents in Bristol.
Lieutenant Eric Hanson of the Bristol Police Department shared this information and noted the ongoing cooperation between the two states’ police departments in addressing the string of car dealership thefts.
