Dog injured after falling from moving truck on I-89 in Hartford

HARTFORD — At approximately 5:38 p.m. on Nov. 29, Vermont State Police were alerted to an incident involving a dog leaping from the bed of a moving pickup truck on Interstate 89 near mile marker 2.

The German Shepard sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle following its fall.

A bystander immediately transported the injured canine to Save’s Emergency Care in Lebanon, New Hampshire, for urgent treatment.

Authorities are seeking the driver of the suspected vehicle, described as a dark blue GMC pickup with plywood railings.

Additional debris was reported to be in the bed of the truck at the time of the incident.

The Vermont State Police urges the truck operator to come forward and is appealing to the public for any information regarding the vehicle or its driver.
