ST. JOHNSBURY — A local man faces a slew of charges, including domestic assault and drug possession, following a vehicle crash on Hospital Drive early Sunday morning.

The St. Johnsbury Police Department apprehended Saladene Stevens, 32, after officers responded to the accident site near Eastern Avenue and Railroad Street at 12:07 a.m.

According to the police, Stevens crashed his vehicle into a building and a trash can before his arrest.

Investigations revealed that prior to the crash, Stevens had allegedly committed simple assault against a protected person, vandalized their property by slashing car tires, and breached his conditions of release.

A subsequent search led to the discovery of an excessive quantity of Oxycodone, with Stevens in possession of more than 100 times the benchmark dose.

Stevens was taken into custody and processed at the police department.

He was then held at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility on a $5,000 cash or surety bail.

Stevens is scheduled for arraignment on Nov. 12 at 12:30 p.m. at the Caledonia Superior Court.
