WESTBROOK — Police responded to a disturbance call on West Pleasant Street that resulted in the arrest of two individuals on June 5.

At around 3 p.m., Westbrook Police Department officers arrived at the scene to find a victim with serious injuries from an assault, necessitating immediate hospital transport.

The officers surrounded the residence of the suspect and, after an extended negotiation period, took the individual into custody.

During the arrest, the suspect, identified as Damien Stockman, 34, of Westbrook, actively resisted and headbutted an officer.

Stockman was charged with Aggravated Assault, Assault on an Officer, and Refusing to Submit to Arrest.

Another person at the scene, Gretchen Strubell, 51, also of Westbrook, attempted to hinder the police in their efforts and was arrested for Obstructing Government Administration.

Both Stockman and Strubell were transported to the Cumberland County Jail following the incident.

The officer who suffered the headbutt sustained a minor injury but continued to assist in the arrest.

The officer completed their shift without needing further medical attention.
