New Haven juvenile shot in leg, police seek witnesses

NEW HAVEN — A juvenile male was shot in the leg late Saturday night in the city, according to New Haven police.

The incident occurred on June 8 at around 11:43 p.m. when officers were dispatched to Gregory Street near Canal Street after a ShotSpotter activation signaled gunfire in the area.

Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a person had been shot.

Upon arrival, patrol officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to his leg.

He was promptly transported by American Medical Response to Yale-New Haven Pediatrics Hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities stated that his injuries are not life-threatening.

Detectives located ballistic evidence on Gregory Street and have initiated an investigation, including interviewing the victim and processing the crime scene.

The New Haven Police Department is appealing to the public for information that could assist in the investigation.
