ST. JOHNSBURY — Vermont State Police arrested a local man Tuesday afternoon on charges including being a fugitive from justice and having an outstanding instate warrant.

Christopher Rivers, 35, of St. Johnsbury, was apprehended at a residence on Costa Avenue around 2 p.m. after troopers sought him for two active arrest warrants.

The warrants were for failing to appear in court for DUI charges in Vermont and for felony theft in New Hampshire.

Rivers was taken into custody without incident, processed at the St. Johnsbury Barracks, and later transported to the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility.

The arrest was part of a coordinated effort to address outstanding warrants in the region.
