SHAFTSBURY — A 23-year-old man from Cambridge, New York, was charged with negligent operation following a crash that resulted in his vehicle catching fire on VT Route 67E near Lamb Rd on June 4.

Nethanel Woodcock was traveling westbound at a high speed when he lost control of his 2005 Chevrolet 2500 in a left-hand bend and nearly collided head-on with another vehicle, according to Vermont State Police.

The truck skidded sideways off the eastbound side of the road and slammed into a telephone pole before bursting into flames.

Investigators measured yaw and tire marks at over 900 feet.

The vehicle was totaled in the incident.
