ST. JOHNSBURY — A routine patrol led to the arrest of a Barnet man early Sunday morning after he fled the scene of a vehicle mishap.

Vermont State Police encountered a 1993 Saab off New Boston Road at approximately 12:03 a.m. with no damage reported.

The driver, Linden Ide, 45, initially refused to comply with troopers’ instructions and fled into the surrounding woods.

A K9 unit successfully tracked Ide, who was subsequently taken into custody for Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Further investigation revealed that Ide was operating the vehicle with a criminally suspended license, in violation of conditions of release, and without the mandated ignition interlock device.

Ide, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident, was arrested and transported to the Vermont State Police Barracks for processing.

He was released on a citation to appear at the Caledonia County Superior Court – Criminal Division on July 1 at 8:30 a.m.
