Highgate town tractor vandalized, police seek information

HIGHGATE — The Vermont State Police are investigating an act of vandalism that occurred between June 2 and early June 3 at the Highgate Town Office, where a 2021 John Deere 5090M tractor was severely damaged.

Authorities were alerted to the incident at approximately 8:51 a.m. on June 3 after town employees discovered the tractor’s cab door and two windows shattered.

Additionally, the tractor’s ignition and dash panel were found tampered with and broken.

The tractor, which is an essential piece of equipment owned by the town of Highgate, was incapacitated due to the damages.

As of now, the persons responsible for the vandalism have not been identified.

The Vermont State Police are urging anyone with information related to the incident or the vehicle to contact the St. Albans Barracks at 802-524-5993.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are hoping tips from the public will assist in tracking down the culprits.
