Cyclist injured in Danville hit-and-run, police seek information

DANVILLE — Vermont State Police are investigating a hit-and-run incident that occurred near the intersection of US Route 2 and VT Route 15 on May 31 between 8:15 and 8:30 p.m.

The incident involved a pickup truck towing a trailer, possibly containing sheet metal, traveling west on US Route 2. An item protruding from the trailer struck 23-year-old Daniel Baumann of Wolcott, who was riding a bicycle on the shoulder of the road in the same direction.

Baumann sustained minor injuries and was transported to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses reported that the vehicle did not stop and continued westbound on US Route 2. The Vermont State Police received the report on June 3 at approximately 7:19 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury Barracks at 802-748-3111.
