Portland traffic stop leads to drug seizure, arrests

PORTLAND — A routine traffic stop in Portland on May 26 led to the seizure of illegal drugs and the arrest of two men, according to the Portland Police Department.

At 4:36 p.m., officers pulled over a vehicle on 58 Alder Street.

The driver, identified as 22-year-old Roger Sockabasin of Portland, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Violating Conditions of Release and Operating While License Suspended or Revoked.

During the arrest, Sockabasin was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Scheduled Drugs.

A passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old Habiib Mohamed of South Portland, faces two counts of Unlawful Trafficking in Scheduled Drugs after police found him in possession of 93 grams of cocaine base.

The Portland Police are continuing their investigation and ask that anyone with information related to this case or any other criminal activity to come forward.
