Derby man arrested for violating abuse prevention order

DERBY — Vermont State Police have taken Jason Cloutier, 42, of Derby, into custody for violating an abuse prevention order and his conditions of release.

Authorities were alerted on May 21 to an incident where Cloutier allegedly made a social media post attempting to contact a protected person, a direct violation of a Relief from Abuse Order.

Further investigation confirmed that Cloutier also breached his pretrial release conditions through this action.

Cloutier was arrested on May 26, processed at the Derby Barracks, and subsequently released with a citation to appear before the Orleans County Superior Court.

The Vermont State Police, respecting privacy policies for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, have not released any details about the victim.
