WEATHERSFIELD — A routine traffic stop for defective equipment led to the arrest of a woman who provided a false name to police officers, the Weathersfield Police Department reported.

Gabrielle Williams was stopped by local authorities on May 23, and during the course of the interaction, officers discovered that she had an active extraditable warrant out of New Hampshire.

Upon further investigation, it was confirmed that Williams had intentionally misled law enforcement about her identity.

Following the discovery, Williams was taken into custody and lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility.

She is scheduled to appear in court on May 24 to answer to the charges of being a fugitive from justice and providing false information to law enforcement officials.

The Weathersfield Police Department has not released further details about the nature of the warrant or the specific defective equipment that prompted the initial traffic stop.

The case is ongoing, and further information will be provided as the legal process unfolds.
