Man jumps from I-89 overpass in Williston, sustains non-life-threatening injuries

WILLISTON — A 22-year-old New York man jumped from the Interstate 89 southbound overpass onto Route 2 on May 23, prompting an emergency response from local authorities.

Vermont State Police, along with Williston Police Department and Williston Fire and EMS, were dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:28 p.m. after receiving reports of the incident.

The man was swiftly attended to by first responders and transported to UVM Medical Center with injuries that were determined to be non-life-threatening.

During the emergency response, Route 2 was closed to traffic for roughly 40 minutes.

The roadway has since been reopened.

The incident is currently under investigation, and authorities have not released the identity of the individual or any further details regarding the circumstances leading to the jump.
