Northfield camper explosion prompts safety reminder

1 min read

NORTHFIELD — Authorities responded to a camper explosion early Monday morning, with initial investigations pointing to a propane leak as the likely cause.

Northfield Police and Fire departments were called to the scene at approximately 6:50 a.m. on May 22 after reports of an explosion at a local residence.

Upon arrival, they found that a camper had exploded, apparently due to a malfunction involving its propane and electric-powered refrigerator.

Thankfully, the camper was unoccupied at the time of the incident, and there were no injuries reported.

The explosion, however, serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of household appliances.

Friends of Northfield Police Department have urged the community to be vigilant and to regularly check their appliances to prevent such accidents.

They emphasized the importance of ensuring that all appliances, especially those involving gas, are in proper working order.

The incident is still under investigation, but officials have reiterated that taking simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of similar occurrences in the future.
