Vernon teen cited for excessive speeding on Pond Road

VERNON — A 17-year-old Vernon resident was arrested on April 29 after being clocked at nearly double the posted speed limit on Pond Road, according to the Windham County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy David S. Gaillardetz observed the juvenile, whose name has not been released due to their age, traveling at 67 mph in a 35 mph zone at around 3:47 p.m. The teen was subsequently stopped and issued a citation for excessive speed.

Following the arrest, the juvenile was released to his father with a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court, Family Division at a later date.

In addition to the arrest, the young driver received a traffic ticket for the civil speeding violation.

The Windham County Sheriff’s Office has not provided further details regarding the case, which remains under investigation.
