Trumbull police hunt for suspect in jewelry store smash and grab

TRUMBULL — A jewelry store at the Trumbull Shopping Mall became the target of a brazen smash and grab theft at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 16, when a lone suspect shattered a display case with a sledgehammer, grabbed valuables, and fled.

The suspect, described as wearing dark clothing, entered Saba Jewelers at 5065 Main St., quickly smashed the store’s glass display, snatched an undisclosed amount of jewelry, and ran out to a waiting vehicle that sped away from the scene.

Authorities reported no injuries during the incident.

Trumbull police detectives have launched an investigation into the theft and are examining surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses.
