Wrong-way driver safely stopped on Interstate 89

ST. ALBANS — Vermont State Police successfully intercepted a wrong-way driver on Interstate 89 northbound between Exit 21 and Exit 20 on May 15, preventing a potential traffic mishap.

Authorities reported that around 11:18 a.m., they received multiple calls regarding a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes.

Troopers promptly responded to the scene and managed to stop the car without any accidents or injuries.

The driver, identified as 79-year-old Daniel Bartlett from Swanton, was not found to be impaired during the investigation.

Despite this, Bartlett faces charges for his actions on the roadway.

Bartlett was cited for Careless and Negligent Operation and is scheduled to appear in the Franklin County Superior Court on July 15 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charge.
