Portland police arrest juvenile after shots fired on city streets

PORTLAND — Portland Police swiftly arrested a juvenile following reports of gunfire late Saturday night on Alder Street at approximately 10:26 p.m.

As officers canvassed the area, another shot rang out from nearby Chestnut Street, coinciding with a second call to the Portland Regional Communications Center regarding additional shots fired.

Authorities were guided by local witnesses to a male suspect seen with a firearm, fleeing the scene.

After a brief chase on foot, during which the suspect discarded a handgun, police detained the individual on Lancaster Street.

The juvenile has been charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and theft by receiving stolen property.

Following the arrest, the suspect was transported to the Longcreek Youth Development Center.

The Portland Police Department is actively investigating the incident and has issued an appeal for public assistance.
