Woman arrested in St. Albans for theft, vandalism

ST. ALBANS — Police responded to Twiggs American Gastropub at 28 North Main St. at 3:37 p.m. Monday, May 13, for a report of a woman who had stolen a money bag and fled on foot.

The suspect, described as wearing a red flannel shirt, green hat, and having a black eye, was apprehended a short distance away after changing clothes.

She was identified as 20-year-old Megan Royea of St. Albans through witness accounts and video surveillance.

Royea was taken into custody, processed, and released on a flash citation to appear at Franklin County Superior Courthouse at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 14.

Later that evening, Royea committed retail theft at From Scratch, located at 70 S.

Main St., at 6:22 p.m. She was again located and cited to appear in court at the same time.

At 9:03 p.m. the same day, Royea caused a disturbance inside an apartment building within the city.

Earlier in the day, Royea had vandalized a vehicle on Kingman Street by kicking its doors at 12:06 p.m. She was issued a citation to appear at Franklin County Superior Courthouse on June 18 at 10 a.m.

Royea has had over 50 police contacts in 2024 involving various criminal acts and other calls for service.
