Underage driver arrested for DUI on US-5 in St. Johnsbury

ST. JOHNSBURY — A 20-year-old from St. Johnsbury was taken into custody early Saturday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Vermont State Police troopers patrolling the area near US-5 and Pierce Road initiated a traffic stop at 12:40 a.m. after observing multiple traffic violations by a southbound truck.

Upon contacting the driver, troopers noted signs of impairment.

The young driver underwent field sobriety tests, which further suggested intoxication.

Subsequently, the individual was arrested and processed at the St. Johnsbury Barracks.

The accused has been summoned to Caledonia County Family Court on May 30 at noon to face DUI charges.

VSP has not released the name of the driver at this time.
