Springfield woman arrested for DUI after driving to police station

SPRINGFIELD — A local woman was arrested for DUI after she drove to the Springfield Police Department and admitted to drinking a six-pack of Budweiser prior to her arrival, according to a press release from the department.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:12 p.m. on May 8, when Sandra Chamberlin, the defendant, entered the lobby of the police station.

Officers Singleton and Freeman conducted an investigation and determined that Chamberlin was allegedly operating her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Chamberlin was taken into custody without incident and later issued a criminal citation.

She is scheduled to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on May 28 to answer to the alleged charge of DUI.

The police clarified that matters of bail and incarceration are handled by the Judicial System, including Judges, Court Clerks, and the State Attorney’s Office.
