SHARON — Troopers from the Royalton Barracks arrested a South Royalton woman on suspicion of driving under the influence after she crashed her vehicle into a guardrail on Interstate 89 North, near mile marker 15.1, on May 7 at 8:02 p.m.

Laurie Strong, 61, was driving a 2023 Nissan Rogue when she reportedly lost control and collided with the guardrail, causing damage to the vehicle’s front passenger wheel and tire.

The weather was clear, and road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.

Authorities responded to the scene after receiving reports of a vehicle driving erratically on the highway.

Upon arrival, they conducted an investigation and suspected Strong of being under the influence.

She was wearing her seatbelt, and there were no reported injuries from the crash.

Strong was taken into custody and cited for DUI.

She was released and is scheduled to appear in the Vermont Superior Court Windsor Criminal Division on May 28 to answer to the charge.
